Food on wheels.

When I was younger, my mother always warned me about eating from the street carts in the city. Back then they were disgusting and unsanitary. When you ordered your hot dog and noticed that the guy had a cold and was coughing everywhere, it left you wondering whether you really wanted to eat or touch anything form that cart. She had me real scared of NYC food carts. Years have gone by. The food carts have evolved into gourmet food trucks. Not only in NYC but the epidemic is now nationwide. Food is better and the trucks are cleaner.

The other day I was in my beloved city and had a chicken gyro from a Halal food truck. I was hesitant at first because I could hear my mother's voice in my ear telling me not to eat it. I silenced her and indulged in the tender chicken, creamy yogurt sauce intertwined with the spicy sauce. All that goodness is enhance by the freshness of the onions  lettuce, tomatoes and bell peppers. Then there's the warm soft pita bread used to usher this joy into my mouth. And all this pricing at less than $5. Sheer blissfulness!!

I'm on a mission to try food from all of the food trucks in NYC. I know that seems unrealistic, but its a challenge worth taking. Imagine all of the discoveries one can encounter while traveling the streets of New York, and that's without food in the equation.
